It’s been a couple of weeks since our last blog post- we missed you! It’s been all-systems-go at Meze over the last week! On Friday we went to Manchester for our work Christmas doo. We decided to take on the Crystal Maze (which we were great at, if I do say so myself) before dinner and karaoke! But last Monday some of the team here at Meze went to London to celebrate the launch of the Chilli and Mint cookbook with the author, Torie True, and her friends and family, so I thought I’d share the events of the night with you!
The day started as normal. We all came into the office for a morning of work before heading out at around 1pm. The car journey was smooth sailing in Phil’s little blue mini and we made sure to stop for coffee!
After a mishap with the Airbnb we ended up booking to stay at the Westminster Hotel by the Hilton which was very classy! It was right by the Westminster Abbey which was so beautiful to see at night. After a quick freshen up we headed to the launch.
The launch was in a gorgeous old building with marble tiles floors, a grand front door and a big fire place. In the centre of the room there was a huge table display of Chilli and Mint books. The cover is so vibrant and striking so the whole table was awash with colour. Emma and I had our own contactless card machines which meant the attendees were able to purchase copies throughout the night. Of the 160 only 10 were left by the end of the night!
The most touching part of the evening was the speeches. Torie’s husband was the first to make a toast to her and her creation before she stepped up to talk. We got the most wonderful mentions: Tim Green for his stunning photography, Phil for taking her on board and being so straight forward, Katie for her impeccable writing skills, Paul for his ingenious designs (who unfortunately couldn’t make the event) and Emma and I for the work we do in retail and marketing. The book was a great team effort and we’re all so pleased with the outcome!
After a couple of hours of eating canapes, drinking champagne and chatting to everyone, the guests started to leave and we made a move as well. We said goodbye to Torie and on the way back to the hotel we went for a celebratory drink at a quaint, local pub. It was such a successful launch and we’re so excited for the future of Chilli and Mint! If you’d like to grab your copy you can find it in our bookshop on the website, on the Waterstones website or in various other retailers.
