Introducing our latest hearty British cook book by an inspired and inspiring chef: Whipped and Charred
This October, Meze brings you Thomas Curtis’ Whipped and Charred: a classic cook book packed with dishes that everyone can tuck into. Inspired by the good old creature comforts of homely British food, Whipped and Charred offers mouth-watering mains such as ‘Toad in the hole’ and ‘Chicken and ham hock pie’ as well as your fill of pub-classic sides – you can never go wrong with a good batch of delicious roasties or ‘Honey Mustard Parsnips’. Light Bites are also covered, as are the secrets to enviable homemade sauces, and there’s even a dedicated section on seafood. Those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed either, with luxurious puddings such as the ‘Notorious white chocolate cheesecake’ featuring in the book. What’s more, with a range of inspiring cocktail recipes at hand, you can even sit down with a homemade beverage after cooking up something scrumptious!
Becoming the head chef of his family pub at just 25, Thomas has a longstanding passion for the culinary arts, yet whilst he admires Michelin-starred chefs and the like, he is keen to keep things a little closer to home. Community is at the heart of Thomas’ work and his ingredients are locally sourced, fresh and seasonal. ‘Closer to home’ actually means much more to Thomas than being part of a thriving local community; his family ties – especially those to his late father – play a huge and influential role in his cooking. This sentiment is reflected in recipes such as ‘my dad’s chilli con carne’. Although the book retains this homely feel and benefits from Thomas’ personal touch, it also flourishes in its ability to inspire budding chefs across the county with a positive can-do attitude.
To quote the chef himself, ‘all you’ll need is an open mind and a love of good food’ to enjoy this wonderful cook book.
Whipped and Charred is sure to rekindle your love of those traditional classics whilst inspiring you to get creative and try new and exciting dishes. So grab your apron and get ready to get stuck in!
Coming soon on October 10th, Whipped and Charred will be available in all of the businesses featured in the book as well as select local gift shops, book shops including Waterstones, and online at www.amazon.co.uk.
