Calling all board game lovers: Sheffield’s set to get its first board game café!

We’ve seen a fair few new café trends in recent years, from books to cats and everything in between – and now it’s all about board games. Sheffield is the latest city to join this exciting new trend – one of twenty in fact – with the opening of The Treehouse this autumn.  A far cry from battered Monopoly sets missing their hotels languishing in dusty corners, The Treehouse will place board games at its heart, with hundreds of games available to play – you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice! There will be no shortage of brain fuel either, with a selection of cakes, sandwiches, tea, coffee and even a range of alcoholic drinks to keep you going whilst you play.

Refreshingly, this concept of board game cafes encourages face to face social interaction – something many will agree is direly needed in our phone-focused world.

As Ruth Haigh (owner of The Treehouse) says:

“We want The Treehouse to be place where people will put down their phones and have a great time doing something together.”

The café is set to be a fantastic social hub, so make sure you head down, reignite your competitive spirit and enjoy a good game or two with family and friends.

The Treehouse launched a campaign on crowdfunding site IndieGoGo earlier this month to an enthusiastic response, and will begin hiring staff in the next few weeks. For more information visit www.treehousesheffield.com.
